Great Bits: Jerry Miculek Wins USPSA Multi-Gun Nationals Miculek Earns 6th 3-Gun National Championship -- 7th Major Championship of the 2007 Season
Jerry Miculek has won the Open Division at the United States Practical Shooting Association (USPSA) Multi-Gun Nationals held in Tulsa, Oklahoma. This year’s match, held at the United States Shooting Academy, is the sixth time Miculek has captured the championship title and is Miculek’s seventh major win of the 2007 competitive shooting season.
The 2007 USPSA Multi-Gun Nationals featured 12 stages of fire with 40 shooters competing for the Open Division title. Throughout the match, competitors were required to use a rifle, pistol and shotgun with certain courses of fire requiring a combination of the three firearms to complete the stage. Competitors engaged targets ranging in distance from 10 to 300 yards while on the clock and maneuvering around obstacles. During the three-day match, Miculek posted consistent scores finishing no lower than 7th place on any stage of fire. On the final day of competition, he took the lead on the last stage, winning the Open Division by seven match points.
Dave Thomas, USPSA Executive Director said, “As the reigning and frequent champion of the USPSA Multi-Gun Nationals along with the Revolver Division at the USPSA Nationals, Jerry has proven that he is a phenomenal shooter. He is a true credit to the sport, working diligently with his wife Kay to promote the shooting sports through a variety of programs. Winning at such a high level takes a tremendous amount of focus and determination throughout the year. The Multi-Gun Nationals is one of the most demanding events on the USPSA circuit as each competitor must have a wide skill set in order to perform seamlessly and without pause with each of the three firearms. Jerry’s ability to do this speaks volumes about his shooting ability and his preparation before each match.”
Miculek’s win at the USPSA Multi-Gun Nationals follows his sixth major victory of the season earlier this month at the 2007 IDPA National Championship. In September 2007, Miculek captured the Revolver Division at the USPSA Nationals competing at the same range in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Earlier this year, Miculek won two national titles at the U.S. Steel Nationals before going on to win the 16th IRC Championship and the 2007 American Handgunner World Shoot-off.
