Hand Priming

In this tip on reloading I would like to talk about priming the cases. This can be performed in a number of ways, but I prefer a hand-priming tool for a number of reasons. First a safety warning.  When priming you always want to be wearing safety glasses and refer to a reloading manual to be sure that you are using the correct primer. To begin the priming process you simply place the primer package on your primer tray and remove the sleeve. Then shake the primer tray until all of the primers become oriented anvil side up and replace the lid on the primer tray.  The next step is to place the primer tray into the hand-priming tool and then slide your primers down into place. Then you take a case and insert it into the universal shell holder and pull the primer handle. You will feel you primer seat squarely and to the bottom of the primer pocket. Doing this is definitely the most consistent method for priming and is also the safest method.
