Byron’s Bare Bow School
All the shooting disciplines we cover have one thing in common. All shooting originated from archery. Centuries ago, the long bow was the only tool for shooting. Archery is, of course, still wildly popular, but most hunters and competitors shoot compound bows, with all the enhancements. But there are those out there who still enjoy the tradition and difficulty of the historic long bow. A group of them joined master archer, Byron Ferguson, for his first Bare Bow School.
You won’t find any compound bows here. This is old school longbow taught by one of the greatest longbow shooters of all time. You’ve seen Byron perform exhibition shots on our shows for years, pulling off the shots that make the impossible, possible. His ability to hit these targets is a credit to two things, his natural shooting ability and his sighting system. It’s a technique Byron calls GAP shooting. He’s teaching that and his philosophy he calls, “Become the Arrow”.
“Become The Arrow is basically the system of shooting that I developed over the years to consistently shoot. It’s a method of aiming, it’s a method of visualization, it’s believing in yourself, being self confident. It’s all these things rolled into one.”
And for a few students, it’s a two day course in classic shooting, aiming, and becoming the arrow, to finish the school successfully hitting aerial targets.
