Sighting In with Shooting USA - Taran at the Movies
 We're Sighting In with the firearms instructor and pro shooter who's working to improve the realism of Hollywood movies. Taran Butler has been teaching the stars to shoot with real guns, so their shooting on the big screen will look like real-life live fire.
Taran explains his objective: “One of the things I am trying to do, that I don’t see that often, is bring back recoil. Even though its not good training for competition, I like to see some recoil with the gun. If the guy is shooting a 44 magnum, it looks ridiculous.  If Arnold is shooting a 44 like and nothing is happening. You know, Clint Eastwood added recoil in Dirty Harry. Dirty Harry would be a horrible movie if he’s firing a 44 magnum and its like, a squib going off, or a blank. I am just trying to do that and incorporate our stance, our grip, and the way we move aggressively through stages, reloads, trying to get the reloads good. Not just have someone load the gun and hand it to them. Trying to get a reload on camera, from start to finish, is nice. It’s rare, but I am trying to get things like that in there.”
