Sighting In with HAVA in San Antonio

SI28-10-1The program is called HAVA. That stands for Honored American Veterans Afield, an organization founded to help our fighting men and women who have returned from battle with life altering injuries.  In prior events, HAVA has organized hunts for soldiers. This time HAVA organized a range day for the Vets and their families to spend some quality time together with some of the pro shooters, and the companies they represent, who are all hoping to help repay the debt owed to our wounded warriors.

SI28-10-2

That’s what HAVA’s first Family Day is all about, showing veterans what they can still accomplish in spite of their injuries and getting them shooting again for the enjoyment and recreation.

Tom Taylor is the Chairman of HAVA: “We’ve had three hunts and a couple of shooting events. This is really our first major event where we’ve had a large group come together. But at the end of the day, it’s really been about touching one life at a time and helping them re-assimilate into shooting, hunting, outdoor sports, and really that’s what it’s been all about.”
