    Collegiate Pistol Championship

It may be the best kept secret in College Varsity Sports – there are shooting teams supported by the athletic departments of the nation’s top Universities. We have Championship Series coverage of the best Varsity pistol marksmen and women competing for National Titles and the Championship in world class pistol matches on the high tech ranges at Fort Benning.

The NRA has sanctioned this event for the past 23 years, awarding individual honors and the National Team Championship. It’s not well known, but more than 200 colleges and universities in the U.S. still have a competitive shooting program. The teams competing for the National Championship are from the best of those schools and have won regional titles to qualify for an invitation to the Nationals.  Students competing represent The Citadel, The Naval Academy, West Point, Ohio State University, M.I.T., the University of Utah, and more top schools. They compete in Olympic style pistol events -- Free Pistol, Sport Pistol, Standard Pistol, and Air Pistol.

Our coverage of the NRA Intercollegiate Pistol Championships highlights the winners and those students who hope their college competition will lead to the next level in shooting, as a member of the US Shooting Team, and wearing red, white and blue in future Olympics.

Plus Byron Ferguson checks in with his Longbow and an Impossibly Long Shot.

And then, the winning sign-off line to claim the Smith & Wesson 500 Magnum.
