US Shooting Team - Shotguns
They are the best of our best in the shotgun sports. Frequently they are the best in the world at Trap, Double Trap and Skeet. They are the members of our US Shooting Team and our Olympians shooting for gold, but you’ve likely never heard their names. As the official Television Sponsor of USA Shooting, we’re pleased to report the story of our National shooting team. This week we profile the shotgun team and their coach of 20 years, Lloyd Woodhouse.
It’s high time you knew our Olympic class shotgun team and also knew the rules for international shotgun sports. There is much that is different from American skeet and trap, like clay targets thrown from 15 machines at 65 miles an hour. And along with the team members we’ll profile the shotguns our athletes shoot, including the hunting gun that has helped Kim Rhode win two Olympic Gold Medals.
And it’s time you knew Coach Lloyd Woodhouse, one of the nicest men in shooting, but also one of the most driven to help his team bring home gold. But Lloyd is also the father figure of the team. No matter their age they’re all Lloyd’s “kids”, but as you’ll discover, these kids can shoot! The things they do with a twelve-gauge shotgun are nothing less than amazing.
We’ll profile our top shotgun athletes and find out how they deal with the incredible pressure of competing on a world stage. Plus we’ll tour the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs and visit with one of our athletes in residence who is training full time.
This Shooting USA show will make you proud to know what great athletes and great people are representing our country in international competition. And we’re going to ask you to help support the team to keep them winning for the USA.
Then, next week, the very different personalities of the team members who shoot rifle and pistol.
