USPSA Handgun Nationals

The national championship matches for the United States Practical Shooting Association, now have a place for everybody and every gun. The newer divisions for Limited 10, Production Gun, and for Revolver have grown the USPSA membership to record numbers of shooters competing against the clock. At the very top of the game are the young Grand Masters in the Open Division. We have Championship Series coverage of the best in action.

Competitors in the Production Division compete with essentially stock pistols any citizen could buy at a local gun shop. With strict rules governing modifications, the USPSA is keeping the Production division simple and inexpensive for the new shooter. But at the Grand Master level, the Production Division title is a hot race with Manufacturer bragging rights and advertising campaigns hanging on the outcome of the final score.

The Limited Ten Division is the home for the high capacity 1911 design Limited Division guns and their owners, but for this competition competitors are restricted to using 10-round magazines.

And there are revolver shooters in USPSA competition, with a title to be won in what the competitors call the "limited six division”. It’s really a race for second place among wheel-gun shooters, in competition to see who will be the best behind number one — Jerry Miculek.

The very fastest shooters in USPSA are chasing the National title in the Open Division, where there are almost no rules on the modifications to a handgun. This time it’s a young guy’s game with red dot optics, compensators, hybrid porting systems, and high cap magazines loaded up to 21 rounds.
