IRC - International Revolver Championship This is the international competition for fans of the wheel gun, for traditionalists who never found an attraction to autoloaders. The IRC draws competitors from around the world, to what has to be the most scenic gun range on the planet. We’re on the coast of California with the world’s best revolver competitors.
If you want to shoot fast and accurate, these days, most folks would choose an autoloader for defense or for competition. But there is a group of people who have never been able to give up their revolvers. For them, the International Revolver Championship is the title that matters most.
ICORE is the sanctioning body for revolver competition—the International Confederation of Revolver Enthusiasts. ICORE has been holding the annual championship for 14 years and drawing competitors from around the world.
The Hogue Action pistol range is the home range for the IRC. Situated right on Highway 1, along California’s central coast, the range is a show place in the heart of California’s coastal tourist destinations.
The Championship challenges shooters with ten stages of fire, primarily using NRA Tombstone targets, but with a simplified scoring system. Shooting outside the 8 inch center ring adds additional seconds to your overall time on the stage. B-zone hits each add 1 second. C-Zone hits, outside the 12 inch ring, add two seconds. It is a speed shooting match. Your overall time in seconds for the ten stages determines the finishing order.
ICORE match rules accept a lower power factor of 120 for competitors. That translates to allowing factory loaded, .38 Special ammo and that makes this match attractive to women and juniors.
A weekend in scenic California can be an enjoyable experience for the family that enjoys competition with the classic “wheel guns”.
