Ronnie Barrett and His Big 50
 20 years ago he was a professional photographer inventing a rifle in his garage. Now he’s the manufacturer of the most effective long range rifle on the planet. The Barrett 50 BMG is on duty in Afghanistan and Iraq and competing in target events among the civilians who own the biggest rifle on the planet. Ronnie’s been on 60 Minutes, that doesn’t like his rifles. Now he’s on Shooting USA and we like him, just fine.
 The cartridge has been in service since 19-18. John Moses Browning scaled up the 30-06 to be the cartridge for his heavy machine gun that would first see service in World War Two.
64 years after Browning’s creation, Ronnie Barrett set out to invent a rifle that one man could use to direct the power of the .50 BMG to ranges over a mile. As you know, he did it, becoming successful and controversial in the process.
