USPSA Three Gun Nationals - 2006
It’s Tactical Competition with Pistol, Rifle and Shotgun as the top Professionals run-and-gun for the USPSA National Title. We’re in Albany, Oregon, for non-stop action.
USPSA practical shooting is well understood to be simulated combat competition.
And firearms instructor Clint Smith is famous for his “clint-isms” . Like, if I knew I was going to a gun fight, I’d take a rifle. Put all that together and you get the basic thought behind USPSA three gun competition — speed and accuracy with pistol, rifle and tactical shotgun.
But the United States Practical Shooting Association now calls their three-gun competition “Multi-Gun”, because it is different from International Practical Shooting Confederation rules. USPSA rules now allow all three guns to be active on a single stage of fire. IPSC 3-gun rules do not.
There are Three Divisions of Multi-Gun competition that are defined by the guns and equipment.
- The Limited Division requires iron sights on all three guns.
- The Tactical Division allows a scope on the rifle, but not on the pistol or shotgun.
- The Open Division allows optics on all three guns and most every other enhancement you can think of, including shotgun speed loaders.
The competition in the Open Division is again between the two multi-time champions of the sport, Michael Voigt and the 2005 champ, Jerry Miculek.
