The SASS Florida State Championship
This time it’s cowboys shooting up the range in Florida with a surprise visit by the Italian who made most of the guns. It’s the Single Action Shooting Society’s Florida State Championship in Orlando.
Cowboy Action Shooters are creative folks who first have to create their character, their alias, as they sign up to be members of the Single Action Shooting Society. But the creativity on display at The Last Stand, the SASS Florida State Championship, has reached a new high with very creative stages of fire and the Stealth Bullet Society for the shooters who may not always hit their targets. It’s quite the event to see, especially for a special guest from Italy seeing his first Cowboy match.
The SASS Florida organizers have more than 300 shooters on the day of the match with a line-up of shooters coming from across the country. This match isn’t just reserved for Florida residents. More than 15 states have competitors here including California.

Cimarron Rifles for Cowboy Action Shooting
If you’re going to play cowboy you’ll need six guns, a shotgun, and a rifle chambered in a pistol caliber... and here are three from Cimarron that will do very nicely.
The newest is the reproduction of the 1884 Colt Lightning Magazine rifle. Originally offered as a complement to the Colt Peacemaker, the 1884 became wildly popular selling near 200,000 originals during its twenty-year production run.
The off-hand operation of the pump action was revolutionary for a rifle at the time and now promises to speed up your stage times in cowboy action shooting. With barrel choices of 20, 22, 24 and 26 inches available, and three calibers to choose from, you can expect to see these turning up at the range. Prices start at $1,200.
