Shooting USA - The Light and Laser Invitational
For the first time the best handgun shooters on the planet compete using weapon lights and lasers.
S&W VP, Tom Taylor explained the idea for us: “Look at the number of lasers that are sold and you think about how many folks have those in their home, why wouldn’t there be a competition to highlight those products?”
So Smith and Wesson teamed with Surefire and Crimson Trace to create a match designed specifically for that purpose. The result is a new kind of competition highlighted by the top competitors.
Only current national and world champions have been invited, and that makes for one of the best super squads ever assembled. The nine shooters represent the very best in various forms of pistol competition

The rules and the scoring are a blend of several handgun sports—IDPA targets with USPSA stage rules, but with the time-plus scoring of the International Revolver Championship. The score on a stage is the elapsed time in seconds, with penalty seconds added for shooting outside the A zone or for a miss.
The five stages have different equipment rules. Some stages are lights only, with no laser. Some are laser only. Some use both. There is no requirement to use cover or concealment in the match. The result is some of the fastest action ever seen in the dark.
